NEPOSREDNA OKOLICA MOKREGA POTOKA

Mokri Potok leži na terasi nad sotočjem dveh potokov in dolino, po kateri teče istoimenski potok. Mokri potok se je imenoval Unter Wetzenbach ali prevedeno Spodnji »mokri« potok. Če gledamo staro visoko nemščino, ki so jo uporabljali Kočevarji, pa je prevod Poskakujoči ali nemirni potok. Nahaja se dobrih 5 kilometrov JV od Kočevske Reke ter približno 15 km od Kočevja. Na poti do Kočevja gremo še mimo vasi Novi Lazi ter Štalcerji.

Vzhodno od Mokrega Potoka se nahajata dve ponorni dolini, ki z opustitvijo vasi Mokri potok in Sadni hrib postajata vse težje dostopni in se zaraščata :

  • zatrep (zgornji, klinasto zaključen del doline) potoka Mokri potok, imenovan Miževka (Milžunk, Mižuk). Miževka je sedaj gozdni rezervat predvsem za varovanje ekosistema kraškega potoka z zatrepom. (na slikah desno in spodaj)
  • ponikalnica potoka Mošenik z imenom Malence. Potok  pridobiva značaj prapotoka.

Nekoč sta na obeh teh mestih stali opekarni za lokalne potrebe.  (vir).

KOČEVSKA REKA

Sredi Goteniško-reške doline, ob vznožju Goteniškega Snežnika (1290 m) se nahaja Kočevska Reka. Na širšem območju, naj bi se ljudje poseljevali že 3000 let nazaj, medtem ko so se prvi Slovenci začeli naseljevati ob čistine gozdov v 13. stoletju.

V 14. stoletju so grofje Ortenburžani kočevsko poselili z nemškimi kmeti, večinoma s Tirolske in Koroške, kateri so se med II. svetovno vojno izselili. Nova cerkev Sv. Janeza Krstnika, je zgrajena na mestu, kjer je stala prejšnja, porušena v letih 1953-54. Cerkev je verjetno stala že v 14. stoletju; leta 1511 jo je porušil potres, nato je bila prezidana v obrambno cerkev kot protiturški tabor, leta 1693 pa je zgorela in bila znova postavljena. Imela je razkošen oltar, delo Frančiška Duldta in slike, nastale v 19. stoletju. V novi cerkvi je večina opreme delo kiparja Staneta Jarma. Posebnost so barvasta okna.

Resko_jezero

Sredi vasi je spominski park s kostanjevim drevoredom in najdebelejšim orehom v Sloveniji z zavidljivo starostjo nad 400 let. V prsni višini ima obseg 434 cm, visok je 15 m. Pod orehom je kamnita klop z vklesano letnico 1696.

Pomembna ponikalnica na Kočevskem je tudi Reški potok, ki nastaja iz dveh izvirov. Njegov tri kilometre dolg tok se nahaja v dolini pod Kočevsko Reko. V železnih časih so ga z betonskim jezom zajezili in nastalo je dobrih dvajset hektarov veliko Reško jezero. V zadnjih letih je jezero registrirano kot rezervat in posegi vanj niso dovoljeni. V gozdovih, ki ga obkrožajo gnezdi orel belorepec. Reško jezero naseljujejo ščuke, smuči, krapi, linji, kleni, rdečeperke, ostriži, školjke brezzobke in raki jelševci. (več)

KOČEVJE

Kočevje se nahaja na najširšem delu Kočevskega polja. Mesto je s starim nemškim imenom Gotsche 1. maja 1363 prvič omenil oglejski patriarh Ludvik della Torre. Kočevsko so v prvi polovici 14. stoletja najprej s slovenskimi, potem pa še z nemškimi naseljenci poselili grofje Ortenburški, medtem ko je bilo obrobje Kočevske že poprej naseljeno s Slovenci.Skozi mesto teče reka Rinža, v bližini pa se nahaja umetno Kočevsko jezero (več).

V geografski zaprtosti in odročnosti pokrajine so Kočevarji iz roda v rod ohranjali svoje šege, običaje, nošo in govorico ter se ohranili kot nemški jezikovni in kulturni otok sredi slovenskega etničnega ozemlja več kot 600 let. V mestu se nahaja župnijska cerkev sv. Jerneja narejena iz kamna, ki je bila dokončana leta 1903.

NOVI LAZI

Novi Lazi ležijo dobre 3 km SV od Mokrega Potoka. V zemljiškem registru je vas prvič omenjena leta 1498, ko je štela 19 hiš.  Leta 1770 je imela vas 40 hiš. pred drugo svetovno vojno pa 63, z 223 prebivalci. Sedaj vas šteje 107 prebivalcev.V vasi se nahaja cerkev sv. Jurija, ki je bila prvič v dokumentih omenjena leta 1526, ter leta 1955 podrta. Več o tem, si preberite tukaj.

IMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS OF MOKRI POTOK

Mokri Potok is located on a terrace above the confluence of two streams and valley, in which stream with the same name flows. Mokri Potok was named Unter Wetzenbach or translated Lower “wet” creek. If we translate it from old german language, which was used by Gottschee, literal translation is Jumping or restless stream. It is located 5 km SE from Kočevska Reka and approximately 15 km from Kočevje. On our way to Kočevje we drive through villages Novi Lazi and Štalcerji.

East of Mokri Potok there are two sink valleys, which are becoming overgrown and hard to reach since Mokri Potok and Sadni hrib were abandoned.

  • sink hole of Mokri Potok, named Miževka (Milžunk, Mižuk). Miževka is now a reserve forest ment for protection of ecosystem of carst stream with its sink hole. (on right and lower picture)
  • underground stream of Mošenik with a name Malence. The stream is getting the nature of ancient creek.

KOČEVSKA REKA

In the middle of Goteniško-reška valley, on the slope of Goteniški Snežnik (1290 m) Kočevska Reka is located. Wider area was inhabited 3000 years ago, while first Slovenians inhabited the forest free areas in 13th century.

In 14th century Counts Ortenburgs settled kočevska region with german farmers mainly from Tyrol and Carinthia, which evicted the are during the WW2. New church of St. John the Baptist, is built on the same site of the old church, which was destroyed in 1953-54. The church was probably built in 14th century; in the year of 1511 it was destroyed by earthquake, than it was rebuilt as a defense church against the Turks, in the year of 1693 it burned down and was rebuilt again. It had luxurious altar, the work of Frančišek Duldt and paintings drawn in 19th century. In the new church most of equipment is the work of sculptore Stane Jarm. Specialty are painted windows.

Resko_jezero

In the middle of village there is a memorial park with chestnut avenue and the thickest chestnut in Slovenia with age of over 400 years. In the height of chest the volume is 434cm and it is 15 m tall. Below the chestnut there is a stone bench with year 1696 chiselled on it.

There is also a 20 ha big lake (Reško jezero) in Kočevska Reka. In the late years the lake is registered as a reserve. In the surrounding forest white-tailed eagle nests. Lake is inhabited by pike, pike perch, carp, tench, chub, rudd, perch, shellfish,… (more)

KOČEVJE

Kočevje is located in the widest part of Gottschee field. The city by the name Gotsche was mentioned for the first time by Patriarch of Aquileia Louis della Torre on 1st May in 1363. Kočevska was first inhabited in the first half of 14th century with Slovenian settlers and later with German by Counts Ortenburgs, while the periphery of Kočevje was settled by Slovenians before that time. Through the city flows a river Rinža, there is also artificial lake in the vicinity. (more).

The geographical closeness and remoteness of landscape the Gottscheers passed their customs, traditions, costumes and language from one generation to another and preserved as a German linguistic and cultural island in the middle of the Slovenian ethnic territory more than 600 years. In the city there is also the church of Sv. Bartholomew made of stone, which was completed in the 1903.

NOVI LAZI

Novi Lazi is located a bit more than 3 km NE from Mokri Potok. In the land register the village was first mentioned in 1498 with 19 houses. In the year of 1770 the village had 40 houses and 63 before the WW2 with 223 residents. Now there are 107 residents in Novi Lazi. In the village there is a church of Sv. George, which was first mentioned in the documents in the year of 1526 and was destroyed in 1955. You can read more here.
